Expensive, complicated, and their third party credentialing service is not competent. The best thing about it is Stripe, their customer service which I consistently had to call, and the prescribing platform. There are much cheaper, simpler, and effective competitors out there. Look before you leap.
I am so frustrated with Kareo. Their sales reps are great and very helpful to please you. Once you sign up, that is it. I wanted to try Kareo and thought the free 2 month trial would be great. I sign up for a year, then my full-time job was lost within a couple weeks of signing up, I immediately had to cancel their product. Keep in mind I never used it and never finished the set up. They would not let me cancel without charging me. I cannot believe I cannot get out of their product. They said I must pay 250, I thought about it more and was like no, why do I need to pay for a product I could not keep and did not use. I have emailed their support multiple times. I have called them back and have yet to get a manager to call me back to discuss getting me out of their contract. I filed with BBB, waiting to see if that can help getting out of contract. I am upset they then sent me to collections for the full year $1566. That is inappropriate Kareo. I want my account canceled and do not charge me anything, b/c I did not use your EMR. I never used your product and was still in the free 2 months. I would advise against using their products. Or just sign up for month-to-month and that way you will not get stuck if you need to cancel.
I have been using this Medical Billing software for almost 8 years now.
They have evolved over time to be an excellent program and they now include an EHR service too. They provide Cloud Based Services for small to large Medical Providers and Billing Companies. I have found Kareo to be one of the best user friendly programs I have ever used. Additionally, they have free user seminars and informational articles to keep us up to date on all the changes that we need to know for our billing and coding purposes. The customer service is excellent! Please note, I use the term “They” in my review since I do feel that as a team, we all work together to make this job of “getting our docs paid “, easier.

No program is perfect for everyone, but Kareo is really top notch.
Be careful signing up with Kareo. The culture is very smug and entitled. You will find it frustrating setting up, operating, and finding answers to using the system.

The sales reps lie about the ease and capabilities. That is why they don’t allow free trials. Your assigned customer service rep won’t ever help you set up the system, they just say, “I’d love to help. Let me email an article to you so you can try to figure it yourself.”

The billing is very aggresive and unfair. If you add or remove new providers you will get double billed for the month they get added or removed.

Be careful buying the options like telehealth because they are expensive and quality and functionality are low. A phone call is a lot easier and works better for your patients.

They say this is a web based practice management software, but you have to download it. You have online for some stuff and on your hard drive for other stuff.

Their customer service will never help you with anything. These are not nice people.
While going through the presentation and being sold on the platform they didn’t mention that there is no app for the Mac, and I found out you have to use parallels to use it after we signed a contract.

My onboarding coach didn’t have the instructions and was not helpful to show me the process again. This platform is a waste of money.

The credentialing firm they partner with do not email status updates even if they are not able to proceed if they are missing information.

If you choose this company you will be wasting time and money.
