Listen to the Doctors review below as well as mine.Unfortunately Illume plastic surgeons uses Ebix Inc for their billing. Illume’s own employees have told me they are terrible but they have to use them. They have miscoded and not followed up on my medicare claim for 2 years. It was being denied originally by Medicare because it was coded cosmetic but was for followup surgery due to cancer. Ebix’s employees changed constantly and their management does nothing either as I found out after numerous calls. Ebix then billled us and threatened us with collections so we paid the $1813 that Medicare would have paid if they had done their jobs. Henry Bherendt the CEO of Illume did finally intervene to refile with the correct coding with them but because they filed too late on appeal, Medicare said they could not pay but would have paid it based on merit. Medicare said we now owe Ebix/Illume nothing but they already received our $1813 a year ago and neither Ebix/Illume are refunding our money. Ebix has now appealed to Medicare twice and received the same reply that they are too late and we owe them $0. They keep appealing because every appeal delays paying us by 60 days while Medicare reviews it! We have made probably 50 calls to Ebix/Illume and Medicare after two years. Henry of Illume is now ghosting us as is Ebix. This is just a scam to not return our $1813. Medicare would only have paid them $515 after the Medicare discount even if they would have appealed in a timely fashion. We are currently going to file a complaint with the BBB, Medicare fraud or take them to small claims court. Whatever it takes. Illume should pay us back directly NOW and fight with their service company Ebix & Medicare billing themselves if Ebix wants to keep appealing to Medicare over and over. We are seniors and would like our money back. If you look at Epic Inc. reviews especially one from a Doctor who used them, Illume should never have hired them.
The only reason there are two stars is because Cathy was super nice and helpful today. Other than that every interaction I’ve had with them has been a challenge. The representatives are combative and seem unhappy and upset every time I speak with them. I had to ask three times to just get the name of the company (they don’t like to tell you who they are). I did pass along to my Dr that their billing company is the only thing I didn’t enjoy about my experience with them and I truly hope they find a different company to partner with. This has been a challenging experience to get these bills paid off because of how delayed everything has been, how disorganized their bills are and hard to read (not laid out well and don’t clearly explain what everything is on the bill), and they don’t always have someone available to help you if you have questions. No one likes paying medical bills either, so maybe a happier intonation from their reps would be helpful. Cathy would be a great person to train more people! She was wonderful. Just have to put that out there again. Empathy and kindness. They go a long way!
I used this billing company when I jump started a medical business. Take note. They have one review. Probably internal. This is the worst billing company ever. They have lost major contracts with numerous hospitals and have taken advantage of the private physicians. DO NOT USE this company. The owner is a piece of work.

They do zero follow up
Have no idea how to credential
Have no clue on how to negotiate contracts
Fail to post payments appropriately
Do not appeal or know how to send records
Fail to deliver timely reports
AND want to control your monies
Then you meet with them and they have no clue
Until then owner BOB tells you how a business should run?

Unreal…..you can’t make it up.
Do your ccap searches on the business and owner.
After 4 phone calls I found that this company, ebix, sent my medical bill to the an address that I haven’t lived at in over 3 years and then sent my bill to collections because I never paid what I never saw. I still don’t know how they screwed up the address because, again, I haven’t lived there in over 3 years.
Their system is broken and I had to track them down after I got a letter from a collection agency.
This review is for Jill in Dr. Mondloch’s billing department. I had a billing issues with Dr. Mondloch’s office saying I owed them money when I didn’t. Jill was very nice and helped me clear up the issue in a very timely manner. Thank you!
